A quick photo tour through my week

At St. Mark’s Church in the Bowery, there stands a statue of Peter Stuyvesant, featuring the world’s most unreadable block of text. I was only able to read through 10% or so before my eyes crossed and I had to look away.

The Stuyvesant name is ubiquitous in New York City. One example is Stuyvesant Square Park, which was a perfect spot to stroll through this past Sunday morning.

A few blocks south, Lula’s Sweet Apothecary serves up the best vegan ice cream I’ve ever tasted.

The strange ornamental heads on buildings are turning up all over the East Village. This is on E 3rd St. Are these based on real historical figures? I need to get to the bottom of this.

Further down E 3rd — what have we here?

Ah, a scary evil baby.

  1. Legend has it that once someone actually successfully reads all the text on the statue, Peter Stuyvesant’s dour expression will transform into a smile.
