Cartographical Cartouches Deserve a Second Chance

Cartographical cartouches have gone out of fashion. This is unfortunate. Maps of today are too focused on function — where is the artistry? I want to see a cartouche layer added in to Google Maps. It could be crowd-sourced: cartouches for different regions.

And in ocean areas, I want to see sea monsters.
